In addition to the evening sessions we feel it is critical that participants see the real City too. Our Course Director Martin Russell takes you on an illuminating and instructional tour of the City linking its history to it present role.
The tour takes you to the following places St Paul’s, Paternoster Square, London Stock Exchange, Guildhall, Royal Exchange, Bank of England, London Metal Exchange, Counting House and Lloyd’s. One of the highlights is a visit to the London Metal Exchange where you will see ‘open outcry’ trading – one of just two places in London to still trade in this way. You will examine why the Exchange is one of the City of London’s most influential institutions as it provides essential services that play a part in maintaining the stability of commodity prices thsroughout the world. Lunch at the Counting House will include ‘lunch and learn’ with guest speaker who will explain how the City makes money from shipping.
To round off the day there will be a visit to Lloyd’s. This will offer a chance to hear how Lloyd’s works, together with a look at the market and an expert description of how risks are placed, how capital is provided and how the insurance market is regulated. Make sure you tick one of the two date options on the registration form as the tours are booked up very quickly!
NEW! With assistance from our sponsor, Eurex, we are pleased to introduce a Walking Tour of Canary Wharf. Following visits to several institutions, the tour will conclude with a reception hosted by Eurex.
